During this beautiful August I re-read Hemingway's short stories. I re-read Hemingway's books from time to time, once again proving to myself that he is (and probably will be) my favorite writer of all times. These short stories are not an exception. In his minimalist, concise form of writing he is able to put so many emotions and feelings describing them just in a few words (be it pain, love, remorse etc.) where other writers require passages of elaborate explanation. A true master. Also this is the case where both English original and translated version in Latvian by the renowned Latvian writer Vizma Belševica is of equal quality.
