Tas nav taisnība, ka sievietes novecojot kļūt aizvien skarbākas un stingrākas. Vecumā no 40 līdz 50 gadiem sieviete izsamist, redzēdama, kā seja novīst, niknojas, jo jāatsakās no pretenzijām un baudām, kuras vēl nav apnikušas, un šī iemesla dēļ gandrīz visas kļūst svētulīgas un ķildīgas. Tik ilgs laiks viņām vajadzīgs, lai samierinātos ar lielo upuri, taču, kad tas ir nests, sievietes sadalās divās šķirās.
Lielāko sastāda tās, kuru vienīgā vērtība ir bijusi izskats un jaunība, un tās ieslīgst muļķīgā apātijā un iziet no mājas tikai tādēļ, lai piedalītos kāršu spēlē un piekoptu dievbijību: tās vienmēr ir garlaicīgas, bieži - rūcīgas, reizēm ķildīgas, bet reti ļaunas...Pie otras šķiras pieder daudz retāk sastopamās un īsti vērtīgās sievietes - tās, kuras apveltītas ar raksturu un nav bijušas slinkas prāta spēju izkopšanā, viņas prot veidot savu dzīvi, kad daba viņām atrauj labvēlību: un viņas grezno prātu ar rotām, kādas agrāk daiļoja viņu ārieni.

It is not true that women with age become more bitter and strict. During 40 and 50 years women are desparate as they see their beauty wilting, they get angry because they have to give up desires and pleasures they are not tired of yet and due to this reason all of them become sanctimonious and peevish. That's the time span they need to accept this huge sacrifice but when it is made; they divide into two groups.
Largest group is formed by women whose only virtues were their appearance, beauty and youth, this group drifts into a foolish apathy; they leave house only to participate in some cards game or participate in religious matters: they are always boring, sometimes - grumpy, but seldom evil...Other group is much rarer to find and it includes truly precious women - the ones blessed with the character and will to work on their intellect, they are skilful in arranging their life also during periods of time when nature turns it's back on them and deprives of its favours: and they adorn their mind with ornaments that once used to beautify their body and face.
